It is also possible you have a BSEE or 2-year training at a technical college.     Salary: IBEW Local 11

    We are looking for technicians that can stay local in LA and Southern California, ones that can travel to sites throughout CA for longer stays and also technicians that want and can travel around the country!

    Additional Details:

    Field Service Technicians must have experience in inspecting, testing, troubleshooting and performing start-up of low, medium and high voltage (to 500kV) electrical systems, and moderately complex relay calibration and power metering.

    • Instrument transformer tests
    • Power transformer testing - Doble, TTR, Insulation Resistance, etc.
    • Cable testing - Meggering, Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF, DC Hipot
    • ATS troubleshooting
    • Low, Medium and High voltage switchgear and circuit breaker testing
    • Test both electro-mechanical and solid state relays
    • Communicate with clients, peers and management for effective problem resolution and transfer of pertinent information.
    • Ability to walk through customers sites, inspect problem(s) and report problem(s) to Sales and Project Management.


    • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code and various industry standards, such as NETA, OSHA, IEEE, ANSI and NFPA.
    • IBEW preferred member or willing to join
    • Must be able to work safely and adhere to all electrical safety procedures.
    • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and periodic, unannounced random drug tests.
    • Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
    • Must be able to crawl, climb, stand and lift up to 75 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodations.
    • Must have a valid driver’s license, and currently, have and be able to maintain a good driving record.
    • Preferred to be available for regular overnight domestic travel and occasional international travel.
    • U.S. passport & TWIC card a plus.
    • Must be willing to work flexible hours and overtime, and occasional weekends, holidays and nights.
    • Must have general PC skills including email, internet, data entry
    • Good theoretical understanding of electrical power systems and good aptitude for problem evaluations.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required
