Fluke 1735 PQM: Erroneous Current Readings in Power Log Software (Firmware Conflict)

When downloading data from a Fluke 1735 PQM, be sure to use the latest version of Power Log Classic to avoid getting erroneous current readings when creating a raw data file.

I donít have the exact technical details on this issue, but basically if you are using a software version that is older than the Fluke 1735 firmware (software inside the meter), your downloaded data will be corrupted. In my experience, current readings will be read in milliamps and the graphs will show crazy numbers on the Y-axis.

This is a problem related to the PQM firmware, meaning that if the data is not downloaded properly, opening the corrupted file with a newer version of Power Log will not correct the problem. The data must be downloaded again using the appropriate software version, itís a data translation problem.

To exemplify this issue, take a look at the two screenshots below. A Fluke 1735 with Firmware version 01.10_5370 was set to record for an hour and downloaded with Power Log Classic Version 4.4, the data was acceptable (15-17 ampere scale).

Next, the same meter was downloaded by a different tech a week later with a much older version of Fluke Power Log Version 4.0.2, the reported ampere data was inaccurate (2000000-22000000 ampere scale).

Our company had to re-install this meter because the the data was erased from the unit before the problem was discovered. Be sure to keep your software and firmware up to date to avoid problems like this.

You can download the latest version of Power Log software from the Fluke website: https://www.fluke.com/en-us/support/...ation-software
