    1 phase AC 115V 1 HP motor full load current calc.

    The full load current for a single phase alternating current 115 volt, 1 horsepower motor is?

    My answer was 8 Amps based on formula when Horsepower & Voltage are known factors.

    Horsepower X 746
    Amps = _________________________

    Volts X Efficiency X Power Factor

    Correct answer indicates 16 Amps based on NEC Table 430.248.

    Do we need to remember numerous Tables or need to know how to calculate such questions?
    Thank-you
