    Needs a sample valve in the bottom plug. Not a pipe plug.

    I came across the same thing on some transformers that were built for a local utility out here in California.

    You have to open the highlighted (yellow) bolted dummy cover for the drain valve

    Are you trying to get an air sample or an oil sample ksvivik?

    Yup! Total crap! Pull a vacuum and put a valve in that bottom plug!

    But they put the valve in facing down so no problem then
