Online PD testing of cables is a great way to scan large populations frequently to identify the 2% that are exhibiting problems.
One thing I have found with doing the TD testing is that heat and sunshine can have a negative effect on the values. During the summer I tested some 25kV cable that were installed in cable trays above ground. I was getting anywhere between 15 and 25 for the TD results. When testing the same type of 25kV cables in the fall when temperatures had come down and had cloudy skies, I got results of 5-8 on the TD.
