I guess you want to come up with all three values for both feeders to get all parameters of the load. In the case of the first load 1200KW at .8 - 1200/.8 = 1500KVA. The angle is 36.869 degrees so you have (sine) 900KVAR. Load 1 is fully described as 1500KVA, 1200KW, and 900KVAR. Load 2 at 800KVA and 300KVAR. The angle is ARC SIN 300/800 = 22.02...

It would seem that the CTs would be connected in parallel, polarity marking connected together - parallel additive. If you had 200 A on feeder 1, that CT would source 2.5 Amps. If you had 200A on feeder 2, you also get 2.5 A from that CT. 400A total gives you 5 A so the relay should be set to 400:5. Answer A is close but there is no correct answer. It...

Question here we have been discussing can you perform a ground resistance test with a clamp on meter on an IT (Insulated form Earth) system with no Neutral. I am thinking that the answer is no since there is no return path for the induced signal to return on.

How do you figure out the distance required for a 3-point fall of potential test? I've heard you should drive your C2 anywhere from 3 to 10X the diagonal of the grid but I've seen other literature that give tables showing different values based on different distances. To keep things simple, let's say we had a building that was 100' x 200', how far out...

How did you have your test leads setup? Its possible that the current on the neutral bus was splitting depending on your configuration. This could cause your secondary current to be less than expected because not all the test current is flowing through the CT.

Was testing some Nuetral CT's in new gear the other day and I was getting some ratio numbers that were a bit off. Bossman told me to disconnect the ground bound between the neutral and ground buss. I got good numbers after that. Anyone know why I was getting number that were about a 3% difference?

So I took the test and passed today. As long as you can pass a practice test on here you should be in good shape. There were a few questions I felt were a little hard but overall good test.
